Liverpool, Manchester United, Everton and Arsenal have all been linked with a £17million move for Patson Daka by the Daily Star.
It’s highly unlikely that Liverpool will sign one of Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland this summer but a player for the future like Patson Daka is certainly a lot more likely especially given Jurgen Klopp’s history of developing young players.
The German helped the likes of Marco Reus, Robert Lewandowski, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane realise their full potential and Daka is certainly not short on talent and possesses a skill set that would see him succeed under the Liverpool manager.
RB Salzburg helped unearth the sensational talent that is Erling Haaland and with Daka in their services, it will be fascinating to see how the Zambian’s career pans out because if he progresses anywhere close to how his former teammate has with Borussia Dortmund, he could be one hell of a player.
After just three minutes against SK Sturm Graz, Daka opened the scoring before he completed an incredible hattrick just eight minutes later.
Liverpool would be a great club for the 22-year-old to develop at but he’d likely find more game time elsewhere. With Salah, Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota all plying their trade at Anfield, it’s difficult to see Daka forcing his way into a starting role.
That said, with Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi being linked with a summer exit, the Reds could be in the market for a new forward and Daka’s arrival would only strengthen Klopp’s attacking options.
The player has said in the past that he’d love a move to Anfield, telling 90Min: “I’ve always been a Liverpool fan – and Barcelona. When we played Liverpool last season in the Champions League at Anfield it was a very special moment.
“The other dream was to face Luis Suarez. He’s the one that impressed me the most. He has always been a big inspiration of mine since I was a kid. It was special to be able to exchange my jersey with him.”
