During Sir Alex Ferguson’s legendary reign as Manchester United manager, they dominated for years in the Premier League.
Fast forward to 2022 and that couldn’t be further from the case.
Liverpool achieved a 9-0 aggregate scoreline over United in the league last year, humbling the Red Devils at Old Trafford 5-0 in one of the season’s most iconic games.
Many believe that Liverpool will have the beating of United again this season, with a former Premier League player claiming United are ‘miles behind’ Liverpool.

Liverpool ‘miles ahead’ of United
It was the former Chelsea and Liverpool right-back who made the claim – despite Liverpool losing 4-0 to United in the first game of pre-season earlier this month.
Speaking exclusively to Genting, he revealed his thoughts on the two sides right now.
“At the moment, 100% [Liverpool are a more attractive club than Manchester United]. It’s a no-brainer. There was a period where players would want to go to United but those days are gone. Johnson claimed.
“United are miles away from being an attractive prospect and are miles behind Liverpool.”

Liverpool title favourites?
With Liverpool and Manchester City the out-and-out title favourites, its not a notion that Klopp seems to support.
He claimed that City were the favourites in an attempt to pile the pressure on the reigning champions.
Even on TalkSport radio, presenter Andy Goldstein has claimed City are in fact weaker this season following the loss of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Raheem Sterling.
That’s despite signing goal-machine Erling Haaland; “The way things are going & the players City have sold, my favourites are LFC at the moment.”
🤔 “I don’t know about City…”
