Liverpool have shown terrific dynamism in the market ahead of the summer, and have already made smart moves for several players. However, their age-old rivals, Manchester United, could land a hefty double blow on their transfer plans in the coming weeks.
Sporting director Richard Hughes has been busy even before the season ended, and has already set up a deal for the impending arrival of Jeremie Frimpong.
He has also been pushing to sign Florian Wirtz in an ambitious move that would see Liverpool break their club and Premier League transfer record for a player.
However, it is not all smooth sailing as Manchester United are threatening to beat Liverpool to two Premier League forwards the Reds have been keeping tabs on ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have had an extremely poor season, and it’s nadir came on Wednesday night when they lost the Europa League final to Tottenham.
However, the club are keen to move forward on the plans set by manager Ruben Amorim, and are already closing in on the signing of Matheus Cunha.
Former Manchester United scout Mick Brown has also revealed that Manchester United are pondering signing either Antoine Semenyo or Bryan Mbeumo, both Liverpool targets.
He revealed that the club will soon hold talks with the players and assess everything before picking one of them, who will definitely improve their attack.
“Semenyo and Mbeumo are both very much on Man United’s radar”, Brown told Football Insider.
“They want to improve their attacking options even if they get a deal done for Cunha.
“Either one of them would be an improvement on what they’ve got at the moment.
“It’s the type of player United are having to look at, because the real elite players aren’t going to want to join them in the state they’re in.
“That’s no disrespect to either Semenyo or Mbeumo, because they’re still top-class players.
“They’ll speak to both clubs, but eventually they have to make a decision.
“Once they’ve determined what the asking prices are going to be, whether they’ll be available and things like that, they’ll push ahead with one of them.”
Liverpool are also interested in Semenyo and Mbeumo, but are unlikely to make a move if one of their established wide forwards does not leave.
