Manchester United are a shock contender for Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher

Manchester United are Liverpool’s biggest rivals in English football, and the two continue to battle to be called the biggest club in England. However, Caoimhin Kelleher has been tipped to join the Old Trafford outfit in the summer as his next career.

Kelleher will have a year left on his contract at Liverpool in the summer, and is almost certain to move on from Anfield in the summer transfer window.

Bournemouth, Chelsea and Leeds United are interested in the Irish goalkeeper, who is likely to demand guarantees of regular football before agreeing to join any club.

However, a former Liverpool star has admitted that a move to Manchester United in the summer would be a logical move for the Reds goalkeeper in the next transfer window.

Ruben Amorim is said to be keen on signing a new goalkeeper in the next transfer window, and Hamann feels Manchester United should sign Liverpool’s Kelleher.

He believes the Irishman is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, and compared to Bournemouth, he deserves ot join a club of Manchester United’s stature in the summer.

“If you look at Manchester United and Chelsea, there are teams bigger in stature than Bournemouth that would be improved by having Caoimhin Kelleher”, Hamann told SpacesportSweden (as cited by Sports Joe)

“Bournemouth have had a brilliant season, but I think Kelleher is one of the best five goalkeepers in the Premier League and that’s why there has been number one talk at Liverpool.

“There will be a long list of takers for Kelleher both here and abroad, I think he has a big decision to make because it’s time for Liverpool to let him go after he has been such a brilliant servant for the club.”

Since the transfer of Phil Chisnall from Manchester United to Liverpool in 1964, no player has been transferred directly between the two clubs.

Liverpool are almost certain to resist selling Kelleher to the Old Trafford outfit.
