Manager driving club’s pursuit of Liverpool star man

Arne Slot will have to play a new backup for Mohamed Salah

The good start to the season Liverpool have enjoyed could get marred in the coming months due to the speculation over the futures of several of their star men.

Liverpool are sitting top of the Premier League table with 18 points after seven games and are being tipped as a potential title contender this season.

Arne Slot has made an instant since his arrival as Reds manager in the summer and proved his detractors wrong in the early part of his reign at Anfield.

Liverpool are confident that the Dutchman will build on the success Jurgen Klopp enjoyed on Merseyside but the club hierarchy have things to sort out in the next few months.

A lacklustre summer window has not made the board too popular amongst the fans but the prospect of losing an academy product on a free transfer next summer could bring nuclear heat on the Liverpool decision-makers.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation is making everyone nervous and Real Madrid are preparing to try and sign him on a free transfer next summer.

Carlo Ancelotti is pushing the club to sign the Real Madrid star

Alexander-Arnold is prepared to delay the talks over a new deal with Liverpool to keep his options open for as long as possible.

As things stand, he can open talks over a pre-contract in January and Real Madrid are only prepared to make an official offer to the player then.

He is their top right-back target for next summer and according to Football Insider, Carlo Ancelotti is driving the club’s interest in the Reds defender.

The Real Madrid boss has been a great admirer of Alexander-Arnold since he was the manager at Everton and has been keeping tabs on his career.

Real Madrid have other right-back options on their shortlist but Ancelotti is pushing to secure a deal to sign the Liverpool star on a free transfer next summer.
