Major Trent Alexander-Arnold contract update from transfer guru

The Trent Alexander-Arnold contract situation is yet to be resolved but Liverpool are pushing hard to convince the defender to sign a new deal. The right-back has not made a decision yet and Liverpool fans are growing wary of losing a top player for nothing at the end of the season.

Real Madrid are growing increasingly confident of convincing the defender to move to the Spanish capital on a free transfer in the next summer transfer window.

Liverpool are insistent that the player has not made a final decision and the club are still very much in negotiations with his representatives over a new deal.

The Merseyside giants are ready to push the envelope to hold on to one of the greatest success stories of their academy and have offered Alexander-Arnold a contract that would make him the highest-paid player in the Premier League.

Liverpool are confident that the player will eventually sign a new deal but there is a feeling that a resolution is not imminent and the negotiations will drag on for a few more months.

The Trent Alexander-Arnold contract saga: Transfer guru insists that the player will not make a decision soon

Experienced football observer and transfer expert Mick Brown has insisted that the saga will finally boil down to whether Alexander-Arnold is desperate to play for Real Madrid.

He stressed that if the defender wants to go to Real Madrid, Liverpool can do little to change his mind but Brown insisted that the 26-year-old will not make a decision anytime soon.

However, he believes both Real Madrid and Liverpool have some convincing to do if they want the player and he feels Alexander-Arnold will take his time.

Brown stressed that the agent and player will play both sides to see how much either club are prepared to offer him.

“A lot of it depends on how much he wants to go and play for Real Madrid,” he told Football Insider.

“If he wants to go and play for them, Liverpool will have no say.

“His contract is up, he can do whatever he wants to do.

“One thing I don’t think people have quite realised yet is that he’ll play it out right up to the last moment before he commits to anything.

“It ultimately comes down to whether he’ll be tempted to move away from Liverpool.

“He’ll be offered a huge contract either way, so I don’t think money will be a determining factor.

“Real Madrid are looking for that type of player, they want to make big-name signings and he certainly fits that bill, but they have to convince him it’s the right move.

“Liverpool also have some convincing to do if they want him to stay put.

“But his agent will be in his ear too, telling him to hold out and see how far both clubs are willing to go to persuade him that they’re the best option.“
