Major Mo Salah contract update revealed

The Mohamed Salah contract situation at Liverpool has seen fresh twists and turns as the club continue to grapple to try and tie him down to a new deal and extend his stay at Anfield beyond the end of the ongoing season.

Salah’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season and while negotiations are ongoing between the two sides, there is still no agreement over a new deal.

The forward’s contract talks with Liverpool have dragged on for months and there have been twists and turns along the way as Liverpool push to hold on to one of their greatest players.

There are suggestions that the two sides are still far apart from reaching an agreement despite recent talks and there is still some way to go before a deal is in place between Salah and Liverpool.

However, there are claims that there is a real willingness on both sides to make sure that Salah remains at Liverpool beyond the end of the ongoing season.

Barcelona are amongst the European sides who are interested in signing the winger on a free transfer and Saudi Pro League sides are prepared to throw silly money to sign him as well.

However, Salah has prioritised staying at Anfield and is still keen to continue playing at the top level for the Merseyside giants.

The forward is keen to see Liverpool offer him a three-year contract and according to Liverpool insider James Wathland, an agreement could be on the cards soon.

It has been claimed that the two sides are working on a deal that would see Salah sign a three-year contract worth £350,000 per week, which is in line with his current wages.

There could still be one sticking point as the forward wants a massive signing-on fee before he agrees to put his signature on the new deal.

However, there is real momentum towards the Egyptian signing a new deal and he is expected to extend his stay on Merseyside beyond the end of the ongoing season.
