Liverpool have a bunch of decisions to make this summer.
Most important of all will be who stays and leaves ahead of next season. It has been widely reported that Liverpool will revamp the squad. Arne Slot and Richard Hughes will work together to identify areas of the squad that need fixing. The lack of quality of the bench has hampered Liverpool for most of this season. It has made it really difficult for Arne Slot to rotate the team. And the options off the bench have rarely impacted games.
Another priority for Liverpool when the season ends is the contract situations of multiple players. Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have all been tipped to leave when their contracts expire in the coming months. Trent is close to joining Real Madrid according to multiple sources.
Liverpool also have to make a decision on Ibrahima Konate and Caomhin Kelleher this summer, both players are out of contract in 2026 and could be sold in the upcoming window.
Quiz: Can you name the team Liverpool signed these players from?
Liverpool stall on contract offer for first team star

One player who will be in the news this summer is Luis Diaz. The Colombian started the season on fire but has flamed out towards the end of the season. Diaz has been pretty decent, and has played most of the campaign as a makeshift striker under Arne Slot. The 28-year old has showed flashes of consistency in front of goal, especially at international level with Colombia. Diaz has six goals in World Cup qualifying and is joint-top scorer.

In previous months, Luis Diaz’s representatives have reached out to Liverpool concerning a new contract. But the reds decided to stall any talks as they focused on Salah, Trent and Van Dijk’s futures. Now, Fabrizio Romano has hinted that the Colombian could leave this summer depending on what happens concerning his contract.
“My information is that at the moment there is nothing advanced or concrete in terms of new contract talks at Liverpool, so let’s see what happens in the final months of the season, if Liverpool decide to offer a new deal to Luis Diaz or if they decide to pathways in the summer transfer window”. Romano said speaking to Caught Offside.
Diaz has been heavily linked to Barcelona since last year. Saudi sides have also shown interest since January.
