Liverpool are set to take a major transfer step towards signing a £70 million-rated centre-back this week, according to sources close to the club. With defensive reinforcements a priority this summer, Arne Slot appears ready to make a decisive move in the market. The highly-rated defender has been linked with multiple top clubs, but the Reds are now reportedly in pole position to land his signature.
The Premier League champions are in the market for a centre-back, and the imminent departure of Jarell Quansah has heightened their need for defensive reinforcements.
They have zeroed in on Marc Guehi as a top target, and the defender is also interested in joining the Reds despite interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle United.
Liverpool are now set to take a decisive transfer step this week to try and secure a deal for the signature of the Crystal Palace centre-back in the ongoing window.

Liverpool are set to table a transfer bid for centre-back Marc Guehi this week

According to journalist Sebastien Vidal, Liverpool will make their first official bid to Crystal Palace for Guehi at the end of this week.
Liverpool have been in talks with the defender’s representatives, and it is clear that the centre-back wants to join the Merseyside giants this summer.
With Guehi close to giving his final approval to a move to Anfield, the champions are now preparing to go in with an official offer for him.
Crystal Palace are aware that they are not going to get more than £45m for a defender who would have normally fetched them around £70m if not for his expiring contract.
Liverpool are likely to offer somewhere around £30m for Guehi as an opening bid before negotiating a deal with Palace over the next few weeks.
