Liverpool have major plans for the summer transfer window and are prepared to back Arne Slot with a big budget to bolster his squad ahead of next season. However, the club remain alive to bargains in the market, and one such player is set to become available.
Slot has proved himself and consolidated his power at Anfield by winning the Premier League in his first season as Liverpool manager, and will have a big say on the club’s transfer deals this summer.
Richard Hughes, Liverpool’s sporting director, is still heading the club’s recruitment, but he will find it hard to ignore the input of a Premier League-winning manager.
Signing a right-back is a priority for the Reds this summer due to the impending departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Slot is keen on signing someone he knows.

Lutsharel Geertruida was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool last summer, when Slot was keen to sign him from Feyenoord when he arrived on Merseyside.
However, the Dutchman didn’t have the cache to dictate the club’s transfer business, and Geertruida moved to RB Leipzig for a guaranteed fee of £17m.
But a year down the line, things have changed, and according to Sky Sports News, Slot remains a firm admirer of the Dutch right-back.
The Liverpool manager is still interested in taking him to Anfield, and this time around, he has the power to make a specific transfer demand to Liverpool.
The Merseyside giants need a right-back, and Geertruida is a player Slot knows and admires.
He has not been a certain starter at Leipzig this summer, and the German club would be open to selling him if they get the right offer for the Dutchman.
