Arne Slot has been in the clouds since he won the Premier League title in his first season as Liverpool manager. However, to keep the performance up, the Dutch manager might need to look at the club through a long term lens as key players move past their prime.
The Dutch manager was successful in reinforcing their frontline with the likes of Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike this summer. Following the departures of Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez, the No.9 role remained uncertain.
Anfield star Diogo Jota also faced a tragedy as he died in a crash in Spain alongside his brother Andre Silva. This left a big hole in the heart of the Reds’ frontline.
Though Slot has been able to fill it well, it will be interesting to see how he manages the long-term side of the game. With Merseyside star Mohamad Salah slowing ageing, it’s time the club focuses on finding a replacement for the Egyptian king.
The winger recently signed a contract extension with the club, which will make him stay at Anfield till 2027. Salah will complete 10 years at the club if he remains in Merseyside for two more years.
Slot and Co. have been making efforts to find a replacement for the winger, as they have specifically inserted a clause in Harvey Elliot’s loan deal to gain a special price for Villa star Morgan Rogers.

Michael Olise tops Liverpool shopping list for January

The Reds have also been eyeing Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise as the top replacement for Mohamed Salah. The club had shown interest through the summer but shifted focus to the No.9 position as they really lacked firepower in that area.
Nevertheless, Olise remains the top target for Liverpool coming winter, claims The Daily Mail journalist Lewis Steele. The Reds even prioritise the Englishman over fellow English attacker Morgan Rogers, claims Steele.
“A good source mentioned Morgan Rogers to me in June as a potential target but I was told ‘no’ by top Liverpool sources at the time.”
“Does that mean it is completely off the cards? No – and they would be open to a market opportunity if the price was right. But they are not directly planning for that at this stage.”
“As for Michael Olise, I certainly cannot rule that one out. They want a long-term Mohamed Salah replacement in the next summer or two, and the early noises are that Bayern Munich’s former Crystal Palace star Olise could be right at the top of their shopping list.”
