Liverpool will be active in the transfer market this summer.
Arne Slot has managed the current squad over the course of the season with limited transfers. Just two permanent first team signings arrived at Anfield this season. Despite this, Slot has done a great job with the Liverpool squad. His new system and style brought the best out of some players like Ryan Gravenberch. Slot has managed the squad very well, but the team have let him down in crucial games. Liverpool were knocked out of the Champions League and lost the League Cup final last month.
The reds still have the Premier League to win this season. Liverpool maintain their 12-point gap with eight games to go.

Manchester City handed advantage in race for Liverpool target

Liverpool are already in the market for fullbacks this summer. With the imminent departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold, the reds are pushing to identify major targets. Andrew Robertson has also been a topic of discussion within the club, as Liverpool plan to sign his long-term replacement. This has lead the club being linked with Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez in the past month.
The reds have identified another possible replacement this week. Reports claim that Liverpool will rival Manchester City for Juventus star Andrea Cambiaso. The Italian international can play both full back roles as well as midfield. He reportedly has €65million price tag. Cambiaso’s agent has mentioned that his client will remain in Italy this summer, as he is ”happy” at Juventus. A sizeable fee will be required to sign the player when the window opens.
Manchester City have a huge advantage over Liverpool in the race to sign Cambiaso. The Manchester club almost signed the defender in January, but decided to move for him later this summer. Giovanni Bia, the player’s agent, has now revealed that Pep Guardiola personally asked for the player:
“Juventus will explain what happened,” he began.
“I’ll tell you that what came out in the newspapers in relation to the negotiations is all true. It’s true that Guardiola wanted him,”
Cambiaso is recovering from a knock he picked up last month.
