Liverpool title hero to join Napoli in a shock cut-price deal

Napoli are closing in on the signing of a Liverpool title-winning star in what would be a shock cut-price deal. The move, if completed, would bring a surprising end to a decorated chapter at Anfield, as the Italian side look to strengthen for a fresh title charge of their own.

Liverpool are coming under increasing pressure to start selling a few players, with the club now on the cusp of paying a £116m fee for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.

The Merseyside giants need player sales to sort out a few more priority areas of their squad later in the transfer window as the club are still expected to spend big on a striker.

Liverpool hope that more work will be done in the coming weeks to offload a few more stars for good fees, but a major player could end up moving to Napoli for a knockdown price.

The Reds are likely to accept a knockdown fee to move the player on

Darwin Nunez will leave Liverpool this summer, and he has attracted interest from Spain, Italy and Saudi Arabia this summer.

A move to Saudi Arabia will fetch Liverpool more money, but the striker is keen to stay in Europe, and Liverpool have been ready to accept a fee in the region of £50m.

However, according to Area Napoli, the Merseyside giants are even prepared to accept somewhere between £38m and £42m for Nunez this summer.

Serie A champions Napoli have been in touch with Liverpool over a transfer and have been made aware that the Reds are ready to be flexible on the transfer fee.

The Reds are keen to move Nunez on soon, as they need space in their squad and wage bill for the arrival of a new striker.
