Liverpool target £67m Real Madrid wonder kid for midfield reinforcement

Liverpool are keen on signing Arda Güler

Like any other club, Liverpool will be looking forward to strengthening their squad in the upcoming transfer window. Add to that the possibility of their key players leaving and there is some intense pressure on the Reds’ management.

There have also been talks of midfield reinforcements at Anfield as gaffer Arne Slot is trying to rebuild the team into a new era. The Reds lack a bit in the defensive department but if reports are true then the Dutchman would also like another offensive option in the middle of the park.

According to Fichajes, the Reds have reignited interest in Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler. Liverpool were keenly following the Turksman’s situation at the Santiago Bernabéu last summer.

A transfer was on the cards but a deal never materialised. Güler chose to stay by Carlo Ancelotti’s side hoping to earn more game time and pierce his way into the starting XI.

Arda competes against Luka Modrić, Federico Valverde, Jude Bellingham and Aurélien Tchouaméni for the starting spot. The Reds were also eyeing Tchouaméni but the Frenchman has made his intentions clear in a recent conversation.

Güler on the other hand is stuck on a crossroad. Staying at Madrid means waiting for Modrić to retire and also perform better than the players who have already cemented their spot under Ancelotti.

Liverpool on the other hand offers him a similar situation but Slot might be keen on using him more if the club is ready to spend £67 million on the Turkish midfielder.

Arsenal are also vying for Arda’s services with Mikel Arteta always on the lookout for up-and-coming talents. With the two giants set to clash today in the Premier League, it will be interesting to see them fight for dominance both on and off the pitch.

Earlier, the Reds had also shown interest in Spanish midfielder Pablo Barrios. His ability to play both offence and defence has surely piqued interest from the Merseysiders.

However, many top clubs are also following the Spaniard’s progress with Atlético Madrid. Diego Simeone on the other hand is being stubborn to let the Spanish U23 international leave.

Rojiblancos have set Barrios’ starting price at around £41.6 million. Any lower than that and Simeone won’t even care to open talks with the suitors.
