All eyes will be on Liverpool again following a record-breaking summer transfer window at Anfield. Despite having been through an unbeaten run, rivals Crystal Palace defeated the Reds again in London.
The first defeat came in the FA Community Shield when Oliver Glasner’s side edged the Merseysiders on penalties. The second was after an unbeaten run, which Slot’s men started following the first defeat.
Having been unbeaten for seven games straight, Liverpool faced a speed breaker when they reached London to play their second game in the capital this season.
Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni remained unavailable following a red card send-off and long-term injury, respectively. After Leoni’s injury, many predicted that Slot would get desperate for a defensive fallback in January.
Interestingly, the Dutchman hasn’t made any concrete plans for 2026 despite Leoni being expected to be out for a year. However, that hasn’t stopped the club from keeping tabs on midfield reinforcements.
Liverpool target Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest

According to TBR Football, Nottingham Forest youngster Elliot Anderson is on Liverpool’s radar. Manchester United are the biggest admirers of the midfielder, but Tottenham Hotspur and the Reds remain in the race.
Forest signed the England international from Newcastle United during their PSR-motivated sale. Following the transfer, Anderson played a key role in the World Cup qualifiers for the Three Lions recently.
He has also turned out to be one of the most exciting prospects on the Isles at the moment. Newcastle United are also dreaming of a reverse move, but the situation looks grim for the Magpies.
Having lost Alexander Isak and also Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool in the summer, the Tyneside outfit won’t be keen on seeing another player taken away by the Reds.

Arne Slot’s interest and Ange Postecoglou’s plans
TBR Football also reports that Arne Slot feels deficient in the central midfield area and would like to bring on a world-class midfielder.
Nottingham Forest are aware of the interest and prefers to keep their gem asset with Ange Postecoglou’s arrival, says the media outlet’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey.
“Anderson has been top class for Forest, and they are aware the interest is emerging. But I am told that Forest have no intention of entertaining any interest in him, and with Ange Postecoglou arriving, they want him to be a cornerstone to his team going forward.”
