Liverpool suffer major blow as £50m transfer bombshell dropped

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has been tasked with the job of improving a title-winning squad this summer. He has been working on several deals ahead of the end of the season, but it seems the dealmaker will miss out on one target.

Arne Slot has consolidated his power at Anfield by winning the Premier League in his first season as Liverpool manager, and the club are prepared to back his vision for the squad this summer.

The Liverpool boss wants to reinforce several areas of his squad, but the club’s priority is expected to be signing a striker, a left-sided centre-back and a left-back.

The club have been looking at several players ahead of the summer, but it seems one of their targets is expected to be taken off the market before the season ends.

Decision made on top Reds target

Liverpool are in the market for left-backs, and Milos Kerkez has been the top target for the club ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, the club are also seeking alternatives, and Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri has also been on Liverpool’s radar ahead of the end of the season.

However, according to the Daily Telegraph, Wolves are not prepared to sell another star man following the impending departure of Matheus Cunha.

They want to hold on to Ait-Nouri and are set to propose a new contract to the defender to convince him to continue at Molineux.

He has two years left on his current deal, and Wolves are not under any serious pressure to sell him in the upcoming transfer window.

Liverpool are now expected to prioritise the arrival of Kerkez while they are still considering other alternatives in the market this summer.

Club Brugge’s Maxim De Cuyper is one of the players the club could turn to if they do not sign the Bournemouth left-back.
