Liverpool suffer devastating blow

Liverpool kept their good start to the season going on Wednesday night when they scored a narrow 1-0 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League, but the club received major news on the injury status of one of their stars.

Darwin Nunez’s first-half strike helped Liverpool to keep their 100 percent record in the Champions League intact and keep hold of the momentum they have built this season.

The Reds are sitting at the summit of the Premier League table and are looking more than good enough to reach the knockout rounds of the Champions League in the coming months.

However, Liverpool are having to do without a key player in Alisson Becker who picked up a hamstring injury just before the last international break and was expected to be out until November.

Caoimhin Kelleher has been an able deputy and is expected to be between the sticks until the Brazilian returns to the starting eleven once he is fit.

However, that could be longer than expected as the medical team at Liverpool have determined that it could take longer for Alisson to return to full fitness.

No Alisson for Liverpool until December

According to Football Insider, Alisson won’t be fit to return to action for the Merseyside giants until December.

The Brazilian goalkeeper has had a history of hamstring injuries and Arne Slot recently admitted that the club are concerned about the muscle injuries he has been picking up.

The Liverpool medical team are keen to avoid rushing him back and taking any risks given his record with hamstring problems.

Therefore, it has been determined that the goalkeeper will be out for another two weeks than previously anticipated and he will only return to the team in December.

Alisson’s future on Merseyside

The 32-year-old goalkeeper has close to three years left on his contract but there is talk of the goalkeeper considering leaving the club next summer.

He has suitors in Saudi Arabia and several European teams are planning to table bids for him next summer to snare him away from the Merseyside giants.

However, Alisson has no immediate plans to leave Liverpool and is believed to be keen on spending the twilight years of his career at Anfield.

For the moment, he is looking to get back to full fitness and return to the starting eleven as soon as possible.
