Liverpool stunned as West Ham close in on 17-year-old starlet targeted by Slot

Liverpool have been left blindsided as West Ham close in on a 17-year-old starlet reportedly wanted by new manager Arne Slot. The highly rated youngster has been on Liverpool’s radar for months, but it’s the Hammers who are set to make a decisive move to sign him.

The Merseyside giants are focused on getting a deal done to sign Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, who is set to cost them a British record transfer fee.

Liverpool are also prioritising signing a forward in the ongoing transfer window, and seem to have settled on a top target who is tipped to become better than Alexander Isak.

However, the Reds are now set to miss out on a top young talent as West Ham now have an edge over Liverpool to sign a 17-year-old starlet, who is admired by Slot.

West Ham to make offer for 17-year-old Chris Rigg wanted by Liverpool manager Arne Slot

Chris Rigg played a major role in getting Sunderland promoted, and the Black Cats want to hold on to the 17-year-old in their first season back in the top flight.

However, Liverpool are among the several clubs who are interested in him as a long-term prospect and want to snare him away from the Stadium of Light.

But the Reds are yet to make a move for him, and according to TEAMTalk, West Ham are ready to try and sign him ahead of their other Premier League rivals.

The Hammers are preparing to table a formal offer for Rigg this summer and try and take him to the London Stadium.

Graham Potter is a fan of the teenager and will play a major role in trying to convince him to move to West Ham this summer.

Sunderland do not want to lose him, and are only likely to entertain offers of more than the £35m mark.
