Liverpool are set to hijack the transfer of a ‘sensational’ striker backed by top scouts to surpass Newcastle star Alexander Isak. The club are in the market for a number 9, and the Reds are now set to beat their Premier League rivals to the signature of this top young forward this summer.
The Merseyside giants are set to pay a British record transfer fee in excess of £126m to get their hands on Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz in the ongoing transfer window.
However, Liverpool are still expected to spend big on signing a new striker as it has been one of the primary priorities of the club this summer.
Isak is the striker Liverpool would really want to sign this summer, but the club are now prepared to hijack the transfer of a sensational striker who many feel could develop into a better forward than the Newcastle star.

Liverpool set to hijack the transfer of Hugo Ekitike from Premier League rivals

Hugo Ekitik has been on the radar of almost every Premier League club this summer that have the funds to spend big on a striker.
Chelsea have been in talks with his representatives over a deal, but have never been convinced about paying the £85m fee Eintracht Frankfurt are demanding.
Manchester United have also entered the race seriously, and have been in touch with his representatives to get information about a potential deal.
However, journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Liverpool are the real favourites to sign the Frenchman in the ongoing summer transfer window.
He said on King of the Bridge Channel on Playback: “Chelsea do hold an interest in Hugo Ekitike, but think it’s Liverpool who are really there.
“Chelsea were never as advanced as people said.”
Ekitike, 22, scored 22 goals in all competitions for Eintracht Frankfurt last season, while Isak only netted ten times for Real Sociedad in the 2021/22 season before earning the move to Newcastle.
