Chelsea push to sign top Ligue 1 forward ahead of the Reds

Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Jonathan David, who has scored 25 goals in all competitions for Lille this season.

The Reds have held talks with his representatives and are considering snapping him up this summer when he will be available on a free transfer.

However, according to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea are poised to hijack Liverpool’s pursuit of the Canadian forward in the upcoming transfer window.

The Blues need a striker, and the club are keen to snap up David on a free transfer from Lille ahead of the start of the 2025/26 season.

Chelsea are in a position to offer him a big contract and a large signing-on fee to ward off interest from Liverpool and Serie A giants Napoli this summer.

David is keen on a move to the Premier League and is considering his offers at the moment before making a final decision in the coming weeks.
