Liverpool stun Newcastle United with blockbuster deal for £80m England star

Liverpool are not shying away from complicated deals this summer. The club are set to finalise their first arrival of the summer soon, and have now rekindled an interest in a Newcastle United star they have been keen to sign for more than a year.

Sporting director Richard Hughes has been working hard behind the scenes to set up deals for the upcoming summer transfer window, and his hard work is set to pay off.

Liverpool expect to finalise Jeremie Frimpong’s arrival from Bayer Leverkusen over the weekend, and the Reds are also pushing to sign Florian Wirtz from the German club.

However, Liverpool have also rekindled their interest in another player on the insistence of manager Arne Slot, who is keen to add his explosiveness to his team.

Arne Slot is driving the Reds’ interest in Newcastle star

Anthony Gordon wanted to join Liverpool, and they had a deal in place with Newcastle to sign him last summer before the Magpies backtracked.

Arsenal are interested in snaring Gordon away from St. James’ Park this summer, but it has been suggested that Anfield remains his preferred destination.

According to Newcastle World, Arne Slot remains a big fan of the player and believes he will be the ideal fit for the left-winger’s role in his team.

Liverpool have rekindled their interest in the winger, and are exploring the possibility of getting their hands on the former Everton star this summer.

He is a massive part of Eddie Howe’s plans, and he has no plans to sell him this summer. However, Liverpool believe an offer of £80m could be too hard to turn down for Newcastle.

Gordon wants the move, and Newcastle are aware his head turned when he was close to joining Liverpool last year.
