Liverpool have decisions to make over the next few months with several of their key players set to enter the final six months of their respective contracts in the new year.
The Merseyside giants have won six of their opening seven Premier League games and went into the international break sitting at the summit of the Premier League table.
New manager Arne Slot has made an instant impact. Liverpool could further burnish their title credentials with positive results against teams in and around them in the league table after the international break.
However, dark clouds of speculation are on the horizon with key players set to enter the final few months of their current contracts with the club in the new year.
The three stalwarts of Liverpool’s recent success – Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold – are all out of contracts at the end of the ongoing season.
There is still no agreement over a new deal with any of those three players and there is particular concern around Alexander-Arnold who is only 25 and is wanted at Real Madrid.
I want trophies and legacy – Liverpool star
Alexander-Arnold is yet to make a decision over his future at Anfield and is ready to delay the talks over a new contract to keep his options open.
The defender has admitted that he wants to leave a legacy in the game, which is more than just winning a few trophies at the start of his career.
The Liverpool star stressed that he wants his best years to extend for a longer period and wants to be known as a serial trophy winner throughout his career.
“I see someone who has achieved something”, Alexander-Arnold told ITV.
“Not just trophies but leaving a legacy on the game. I was approaching that area, I think, within the last couple of years.
“I don’t want to be the player remembered for only winning trophies when he was young; I want to continue to win trophies year after year until the end and was a great player in each season they played.”
