Liverpool’s goalkeeper Alisson has spoken on his side’s stuttering start to the season claiming they are not at their level so far this year.
Jurgen Klopp’s side has seen a tough opening to the new season, trailing by five points to their title rival Manchester City after only six games.
Next up is the start of the Champions League this week but the Reds have struggled with injuries and form in the early part of the season – something which needs to be improved on.
Alisson has claimed his side is not at their usual level and cited ‘problems’ in the squad which have held them back so far.
Alisson’s comments on Liverpool
Liverpool’s undisputed number one was on hand to talk about their start to the season, as he cited injuries as the main cause of their issues so far that have seen them lose once and draw three games.
The goalkeeper said: “We know we are not at our level that everyone is used to seeing but we are trying and we are fighting.
“I believe it is only because of the circumstances around us. The injuries.
“There are so many reasons you can point the finger at that. In the end, it is on us. We have to have the right attitude on the pitch, working against those kind of problems and fixing those problems.
“We fix that with football, this is our idea. We have to stick with our idea of football. We have to fight too, be physical sometimes. We are trying to do that and we are getting there. This was a good example of what we can do this season.
“In this game, we improved. Speaking about the performance, we had a more consistent game and we are getting there. We will get there.”
Alisson himself has begun in good form himself, but with the return of injured players such as Thiago, Diogo Jota and Joel Matip will all be big boosts as they look to pick up some form.
