Club made Liverpool a transfer promise over bid to sign exciting dynamo – it would be Liverpool’s third official bid

Moises Caicedo

Liverpool have received good news in their pursuit of one of their main midfield transfer targets despite the summer window closing as they have been made a promise by Brighton regarding Moises Caicedo.

The Reds did secure the signing of an experienced midfielder in Arthur Melo on transfer deadline day which saw the Brazilian join on a season-long loan deal.

That was a much-needed signing mainly just for the cover in midfield because Jurgen Klopp has had to contend with injuries all over the pitch so far this season, but he can also offer an elevated level of technical quality – the likes of which only Thiago boasts.

However, Brighton have ‘promised’ Liverpool that any offer for midfielder Moises Caicedo will be prioritised, according to reports.

Liverpool could still sign Caicedo this season

According to the Daily Express, Brighton will prioritise any move made by Liverpool following their failed late pursuit as the window drew to a close.

The club apparently turned down approaches from multiple sides telling them to wait until after the World Cup in the winter before trying to do any sort of deal. I

It’s thought that Caicedo’s impact for Ecuador could see his stock rise even more so on the world’s biggest stage.

Also, according to Ecuadorian outlet Tele Deportes, Liverpool made a second offer for Moisés Caicedo in the final hour of the transfer window but Liverpool will have priority in the transfer after the WC.

The 20-year-old has had a stunning start to the season and attracted many plaudits as a tough, powerful but technically solid midfielder who has played a big part in Brighton’s flying start to the season.

With the midfielders ageing and injuries frequent, Caicedo could be the first look at what a ‘new-look’ Liverpool could be.

Flying start to the season…

Having starred in the opening day win over Manchester United, Caicedo has maintained his fine start with consistent, quality performances as Brighton celebrate their flying start to the season.

Despite being only 20, he has 23 caps for Ecuador and looks like a cultured midfielder already. Capable of playing in a two or three-man midfield, he looks at his best when given that license to influence the game in any possible, be it scoring, driving his team up the pitch, tackling or stopping attacks – he really is an influential player.

Considering he only cost £4.5M, Caicedo is the epitome of a hidden gem. His stats showcase an all-round midfielder – registering particularly high for non-penalty goals, tackles, interceptions, aerials won and touches in the attacking box.

Signing Caicedo ensures that Liverpool’s midfield would be re-vitalised with quality and presence. Plus, Caicedo playing in a top side will only see him improve further and it’s exciting to think just how good he could be in a red shirt.
