Problems continue to keep popping up around Liverpool at the tail end of the season.
The club continue to pursue silverware in Arne Slot’s first season in charge. Slot has exceeded all expectations this season. Liverpool could potentially end the campaign with a treble. An unfortunate exit in the FA Cup to Plymouth prevent them for challenging for the quadruple. The wins have not even been the Dutch coach’s best traits. He has set the team up in a new style that has brought the best out of many players.
Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo and Alexis Mac Allister look reborn under Slot. The new possession-based style has given the team more balance on the pitch. This style has seen the reds reach some of the best attacking, and defensive statistics among Europe’s top five leagues.
The only downside to this campaign has been the futures of players under contract.

Liverpool star pushing for exit

Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk are the marquee names set to exit the club in the summer. The trio have been the best players for the team this campaign. However, nothing concrete has come from their contract talks since the start of the year. Reports claim the Liverpool dressing room is concerned about the Van Dijk situation.
One player who is definitely on his way out of Anfield is Luis Diaz. David Alvarez has revealed that the Colombian’s entourage have reached out to FC Barcelona over a possible move. Diaz has been linked with Barcelona since last year. This week, it has been reported that Diaz has asked Liverpool for a new contract, but the club has put talks on hold as they focus on their priority of trying to keep Salah, Trent and Van Dijk. The reds plan to extend the Colombian, but it looks like he will push for a move to Spain this summer. Diaz has been looking for improved terms on his current contract worth £55,000 a week.
Barcelona are reportedly looking to sign a left winger and number 9 this summer.
Diaz frustration is understandable
Luis Diaz has made it clear he wants to stay at the club. He also wants to be paid like a first team star. The Colombian has performed well this season under Arne Slot, but there have been moments where he has shown inconsistency. He went months without scoring before the game at home to Wolves last weekend.
Liverpool now have a choice to make; they can sell him, or renew his current deal this summer.
