Liverpool star close to new deal after ‘good conversation’ with club

Liverpool could be in line for a huge win as the club continues to engage in talks with players.

Despite how well the reds have fared on the pitch this season, headlines off the pitch have dominated. Three of Liverpool’s best players are out of contract in the summer. Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk could all leave Anfield in the summer. Which would be disappointing, because the trio have been pivotal to the team’s success this season.

Salah has been the best player in Europe and Van Dijk continues to show that he is a defensive anchor at his age. Trent has also recovered from last season, where he was very inconsistent. Under Arne Slot, the fullback has found his form once again.

Liverpool have made it clear that they want to see how the season ends before making any decisions. Plans have been drawn up for the upcoming summer transfer window. The reds are still in contention to win the treble this season. Liverpool are top of the Premier League with 14 games to go, the reds are also through to the next round of the Champions League. Arne Slot’s men booked a place in the League Cup final after beating Spurs 4-0 at Anfield.

Good news could be headed Liverpool’s way soon. Fabrizio Romano reported that Virgil Van Dijk’ representatives had a meeting with the club.

“Something to say on Virgil van Dijk. It’s true that the agents of Virgil van Dijk were sitting next to director of football at Liverpool, Richard Hughes, for the game against Tottenham.” Romano revealed on his YouTube channel.

“So, there is still a very good conversation, a very good relationship, between Liverpool and the agents of Van Dijk.”

It was just last week that Van Dijk rubbished rumours of him signing a new deal. The defender mentioned that no one knows what is going on behind the scenes at the club. This was after the semi-final win against Spurs:

“The only thing I’m focusing on is the game ahead of me, and I’m feeling good. I think everyone can see that, and what the future brings, at the moment, I’ve got no idea.

So anyone who says they know it, they are absolutely wrong. But we’ll see what happens.”

Liverpool have three months left till the end of the season. Nothing concrete has been agreed so far, but the club will need to act fast to resolve this ongoing saga.
