Liverpool fans should not be surprised if the club misses out on some players this summer.
There are only so many signings Liverpool can make ahead of next season without disrupting the squad. It is common knowledge that multiple signings in one window means the team will have to take time to gel. Players will need time to adapt to Arne Slot’s tactics and style. Signings from other European leagues will also need time to adjust to Premier League intensity.
Liverpool fans saw this first hand as it took over a year for Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch to hit their stride in the first team. Arne Slot and Richard Hughes will work closely this summer to ensure a smooth transfer window. After signing just two players over two transfer windows this season, Liverpool are braced for a huge summer.

Liverpool journalist points out complication in transfer deal

The reds have two priorities heading into the upcoming window. Liverpool will be in the market for a new defender, and a striker. One of the names that has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield is Alexander Isak. The Newcastle striker has been tipped to leave St. James’ Park this summer. According to reports, if the magpies fail to make the Champions League, the striker could be on his way out. Isak has been valued at £150million by his current club, with a lot of teams around Europe on standby.
One club expected to rule themselves out of the race for Alexander Isak is Liverpool. According to The Athletic, the reds could hit a huge stumbling block when it comes to the transfer fee. Newcastle are adamant on keeping the 25-year old this summer, and will demand a hefty fee to part ways. Liverpool journalist James Pearce laid down the details of the report:
“It depends on the numbers involved. The club’s senior recruitment figures certainly admire Isak, but it’s highly unlikely that Liverpool would agree to pay £150m for him.
The reds will also weigh internally if signing Isak is worth neglecting other areas of need this summer.
“Liverpool recently announced a £57m pre-tax loss for 2023-24, and although their financial situation is now much healthier following their return to the Champions League, they are expected to spread their resources around this summer rather than focus on one marquee signing.”
