Liverpool sign Wolves academy talent for £2million fee

Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool have signed Wolves academy talent Alvin Ayman. The deal includes a £2m compensation fee, and the player will sign a 5-year contract.

Ayman will become Liverpool’s first signing this summer, despite the teenager being viewed as a long term prospect and not a current first team player.

This is how Fabrizio Romano described the deal on X:

“Liverpool have completed deal for 16-year-old talent Alvin Ayman to join the Academy from Wolves.

5 year deal, £2m compensation fee and Premier League’s 5 step approval now completed.”

It is widely reported that multiple top six clubs were hovering around Ayman, but Liverpool were able to convince the player to join the Anfield club.

Who is Alvin Ayman?

Ayman is a 16-year old who can play in defence and midfield. He was a highly rated prospect among the Wolves team and often trained with the first team squad last season.

Ayman regularly featured with the Wolves U18s last season as a 15-year-old, and even made his debut for their U21 side. He played as a left-sided centre-back and later moved into midfield, showing how talented he was.

Ayman moved to Wolves from Bradford City, where he was also a highly touted prospect. The player is also an England U17 international.

Liverpool’s younger approach

The Reds have been recruiting young academy talent from other English academies over the past few years. Ayman is the latest, with Liverpool also pursuing Chelsea’s Rio Ngumoha.

Journalist David Lynch, spoke on the youngster’s move to Merseyside a few months earlier.

“The deal is close to being done,”

“Liverpool are in talks to get that done. It’s obviously a strange one with the young kids because you’re trying to agree a few that won’t incur a tribunal being involved and all that.

“I think Liverpool are keen to avoid that, but it sounds like they’re pretty confident that one will get done,” he adds. “There’s excitement around this lad and they think he’s a big talent.”

Ayman play most of this season as part of Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s U18 team, however there would be no surprise if he also played for the U21 team like he did at Wolves.

Ayman becomes the only arrival in this transfer window so far. Liverpool have spent this summer on departures, with the likes of Fabio Carvalho, Bobby Clark and Sepp Van den Berg having left for new clubs. The Reds have generated just over £60million from these three players, with more expected to move before the end of the window.
