Liverpool shocked as Real Madrid make €100M bid

Liverpool fans must be sick of hearing of Real Madrid this season.

After the reds inflicted a painful defeat to the Spanish side in the Champions League back in December, things have never been the same. Madrid were in a poor run of form at the start of the competition, while Liverpool had a 100% record in the Champions League group phase. Both teams eventually made it to the knockout rounds.

Since last year, Real Madrid have been linked to Trent Alexander-Arnold. There was this whole discussion between Liverpool fans online when the defender was very close with Jude Bellingham during EURO 2024. Some speculated that Bellingham wanted to convince him to come to Spain. Liverpool fans had to relive the summer that the England international chose Madrid over them.

It came out recently that Trent had reportedly agreed to a move to Real Madrid and Liverpool fans have been unhappy ever since.

One of the biggest clubs in the world coming to take your best academy talent in recent years will do that to a fanbase. There was a sneaky feeling that Trent would leave when his contract expires, but Liverpool fans did not expect it to go this way. Nothing has been officially confirmed, but everyone knows that the deal is all but completed.

The Spanish side were also briefly linked with Ibrahima Konate. The Liverpool defender was on their radar, and with his current deal expiring in 2026, there is speculation that Madrid could pounce and sign Konate next year.

Real Madrid are set to scupper the red’s transfer plans again this summer. According to Fichajes, the Spanish side are very interested in Bournemouth duo Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen. The two players are very high on Liverpool’s list this summer, with the reds already having contacted the Hungarian defender. The race for the Bournemouth duo will be intense this summer, as many clubs have their eye on the duo. Real Madrid are hoping to swoop in and sign both players for around €100million this summer.

If Madrid do decide to move for Kerkez and Huijsen, Liverpool will have to alter their transfer plans.
