Liverpool are yet to unlock the negotiations that would lead Trent Alexander-Arnold to sign a new contract with the club and ignore the fluttering eyes of reigning European champions Real Madrid.
Alexander-Arnold is in the final few months of his current deal and will be free to open discussions over a pre-contract with any club from January onwards.
Liverpool want to hold on to the player but he has been tipped to leave the Merseyside giants in the summer in favour of Real Madrid who have offered him a mega-deal.
The Reds are still working to find a way to unlock the deadlock and are aware of the optics of a Liverpool-born Red moving on from the club on a free transfer next summer.
However, Liverpool are also preparing for the worst and have been looking at several right-backs across Europe to find a potential replacement for Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool make contact for Alexander-Arnold’s replacement
Several right-backs have already been linked with a move to Anfield due to the speculation of the England international potentially leaving the club next summer.
Liverpool have been keeping tabs on a few players and according to CaughtOffside, the club have made a move to establish contact with one of those right-backs.
It has been claimed that Red Bull Salzburg right-back Amar Dedic is a player the club admire and they are now in contact with his representatives.
The 22-year-old Bosnian is an impressive young talent and has worked his way up Liverpool’s shortlist with his performances in Austria this season.
Liverpool have sought more information on the player and are putting in enquiries to check whether he will be available for a move in the upcoming windows.
Can you name these 10 former Premier League players?
Dedic is a realistic target given Red Bull Salzburg’s penchant for selling players for a profit and he is seen as a sellable asset.
The defender is also said to be prepared to test himself at a higher level and would welcome a move to the Premier League and Liverpool.
The club would still ideally want to hold on to Alexander-Arnold given his quality and the fact his peak years are likely ahead of him.
However, Liverpool are preparing the ground for his departure and Dedic is a player who is high on their shortlist of targets.
