Liverpool have over 20 first team players in action this week.
People around the club have different views of this international break. Some feel it came at the right time, and others think it has disrupted the reds’ season. Liverpool have had a difficult past week. The reds exited the Champions League to Paris Saint-Germain after taking a lead in the first leg. PSG came to Anfield and immediately flew off the blocks. An early goal in the first half set the tone for the game. Alisson’s performance in goal kept out the French side, who forced the game to extra time and eventually penalties.
Gianluigi Donnarumma pulled out all the stops to secure a win for PSG. Days later in the League Cup final, Newcastle also took a shock lead just before half time. Alexander Isak scored to make it 2-0 in the second half, and Liverpool found a consolation goal from Federico Chiesa late in the game.

Liverpool receive worrying news

Brazil beat Colombia 2-1 in the World Cup qualifiers. Goals from Raphinha and Vinicius Junior gave the Selecao a huge win. Liverpool stars Alisson and Luis Diaz featured in the game on both sides. However, the reds had a cause for concern late in the game. In the 78th minute, Alisson went down and was taken off the pitch after being treated on the field. The goalkeeper suffered a clash of heads while challenging for the ball in in the air.
After the game, Brazil’s team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar revealed that Alisson suffered a concussion:
‘(Alisson) Becker suffered a trauma to the head region, he was replaced by a suspected concussion,’ said Lasmar.
‘Now we will do all the CBF protocol, it will undergo recommended imaging tests, a computed tomography, then a resonance with diffusion.’
Alisson Becker has departed the Brazil national team set-up and will return to Liverpool.

A day after the game, Liverpool have announced that the Brazilian keeper has left the team camp and is on his way to Anfield for treatment. The official club statement read:
”The goalkeeper was forced off in the second half of his nation’s World Cup qualifier with Colombia in the early hours of Friday following a collision.
Alisson is travelling back to Merseyside and will undergo assessment from the Reds’ medical staff.”
Liverpool face Everton in the Merseyside derby when they return from the international break at the end of the month. The reds are currently top of the Premier League.
