Liverpool ready to make an offer for £64m hitman – could finally sign him after previous phone calls with director

Dusan Vlahovic

Corriere dello Sport have provided another update on Liverpool’s reported interest in signing Dusan Vlahovic and they are allegedly ready to make an offer.

Last week, Anfield Central covered the news that Liverpool could finally enter the race to sign Vlahovic and it seems that may happen sooner than expected.

A report from Corriere dello Sport, cited by Paisley Gates, suggested that Spurs and Man City are interested in the Serbian hitman but added that Liverpool and United could enter the race to sign him.

Now, the Italian outlet, once again cited by Paisley Gates, claims that the Reds are ready to make an offer for the forward, who is valued at €75million (£64million).

Dusan Vlahovic

It’s not clear whether or not Liverpool will make a summer offer or move early to sign him in the January transfer window but if Jurgen Klopp does want him and FSG are willing to pay Fiorentina’s asking price, I don’t see the point in waiting to sign him.

Delaying a move to bring him to Anfield until the summer only gives the likes of Spurs and Man City the chance to swoop in and steal him from under their noses.

What does Vlahovic hypothetically add to Liverpool?

Mohamed Salah aside, Jurgen Klopp doesn’t have another clinical forward who finds scoring goals to be second nature and adding someone like the Fiorentina striker would only improve the German’s side.

As things stand, Liverpool are second in the Premier League but games against Man City and Chelsea may have been won with a more clinical striker on the pitch even if Mane and Salah were fantastic against Pep Guardiola’s men.

Mane and Salah

Part of Salah’s excellence for Liverpool has had to do with the fact that they play with a false nine a lot of the time and so it would be interesting to see how he would operate alongside someone like Vlahovic.

He did have a wonderful partnership with Edin Dzeko when he was at AS Roma so I would love to see him form a similar relationship with a striker like Vlahoivc.

Phone calls were held with Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade in July as Liverpool explored the possibility of signing Vlahovic and perhaps we will soon see those efforts come to fruition.
