In order to beat top European sides to Ousmane Dembele, Liverpool are ready to agree on a deal worth over €230,000 per week.
Jurgen Klopp has twice offered the Frenchman a move to Anfield.
Once in 2016 when Dembele was at Rennes but he then moved to Borussia Dortmund and again in 2021 as talks were reportedly opened.
Now, two reports from Spain suggest Liverpool are ready to agree a deal to sign him, but they will have to pay over €12 million per year (€230,000/week).
Sport were the first to report that Liverpool have made an offer to sign Dembele. His contract is expiring in 27 days and so no transfer fee would be required.
Liverpool could lose Sadio Mane this summer as he nears a move to Bayern Munich and so a replacement is needed to ensure the Reds can continue challenging on all fronts heading into next season.
El Nacional doubled down on the story, reporting that Dembele has offers from Liverpool, Bayern Munich, PSG and Chelsea.
The report states the French forward is in “the dream situation” as he’s got his pick of four of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Barcelona offered him a lower salary than the €12m he was already earning and so remaining at Camp Nou “seems to be completely ruled out”.
Liverpool are among the four clubs to have made an offer to Dembele and they have all reportedly offered the winger more than he is earning currently.
This would mean Liverpool are prepared to pay over €12million per year (€230,000/week) to sign Dembele.
A move to PSG was his preference but Kylian Mbappe renewing his contract has thrown a spanner in the works not to mention Leonardo’s dismissal.
Playing in the Premier League is something that “seduces” the forward as he has never played in England, where Liverpool and Chelsea are fighting for his signature.
The main reason against signing Dembele is his injury record. Even though he has been much fitter this season, he still missed 16 games due to injury.
Given how Naby Keita has struggled at Liverpool due to injuries, it’s difficult to imagine Dembele would be any different.
Jurgen Klopp’s style of play is so demanding that it’s very possibly Demebele’s injuries would be further exacerbated.
