Liverpool in “advanced talks over transfer bid for 21-year-old that Julian Ward has already replaced

Neco Williams

A £16M fee is being mooted for Liverpool fullback Neco Williams ahead of a permanent move away from Anfield.

The Welshman has already agreed personal terms with newly-promoted Nottingham Forest as he looks set for a season in the Premier League.

He burst onto the scene as a teenager but has been unable to oust Trent Alexander Arnold from right back. The Scouser is the best right back in the world so that’s more than understandable.

Liverpool close to selling Neco Williams for £16M

According to Sky Sports, “Forest are in advanced talks with Liverpool” over signing Williams.

The report states the “fee under discussion is thought to be worth £16M.” That would represent some very good business for the Reds given the significant outlay sanctioned to bring Darwin Nunez to Anfield.

Forest are hopeful of completing negotiations in the coming days as they seek to have their squad prepared for the start of the new season – their first back in the top flight for 23 years.

It’s an important move for Williams as he aims to ensure he is fit and firing ahead of Wales’ World Cup tournament at the end of the year.

Liverpool have already replaced Williams with Calvin Ramsay

True to their transfer excellence, Liverpool have already found a replacement for Williams, signing Calvin Ramsay (18) from Aberdeen.

The Scotsman will challenge Alexander-Arnold for his role in the starting XI but is expected to play a bit-part role with the domestic cups sure to provide many opportunities to develop under Jurgen Klopp.

He joins Fabio Carvalho as the club’s two teenage additions to the squad.

The latter is the more exciting player purely due to his technical ability but Ramsay is an elite talent.

Klopp to show his world-class management again this season

Jurgen Klopp’s world-class man-management will once again be on display as he juggles fine-tuning his starting XI in the wake of Sadio Mane’s to Bayern Munich with developing and nurturing future talent.

Ramsay, Carvalho, Harvey Elliott and Kaide Gordon are players Liverpool fans are excited about and I’m almost more excited to see them develop than I am about seeing Nunez in action following his marquee move to Anfield.
