Real Madrid have backed off as Liverpool pursue ‘generational’ talent in the transfer market. The Reds have stepped up their efforts in recent days with Madrid cooling off on the player.

Three losses on the trot has exposed chinks in the Liverpool. One of those chinks is in the attacking half. Despite some big summer signings, several of them have failed to get going. Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz have both cost more than £100m, with Hugo Ekitike commanding a fee of £79m including bonuses.

Unfortunately for the club, the former two names are yet to deliver and the club might be considering moving on.

Liverpool pursue ‘generational’ Salah replacement

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe is a big admirer of his countryman, however the Los Blancos have cooled off on the player. Despite Mbappe’s sphere of influence, the transfer will be infeasible due to their recent spend on Mbappe himself.

The 15-time Champions League winners have their priorities lying elsewhere, and this is where Liverpool come into the picture. According to Catalan outlet E-Noticies, the Reds are now the frontrunners to secure the player.

The report states that both manager Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes are looking to move on from Salah. They are ‘eager to sign Michael Olise to produce a generational change at right wing’.

Ever rising stock at Bayern

Ever since joining Bayern in 2024 the winger has been spectacular. As of this writing, the 23-year old has recorded an impressive 25 goals and 29 assists in 65 appearances.

The former Crystal Palace man has extensive Premier League experience. His technical prowess, creativity and attacking flair makes him one of Europe’s most exciting prospects. The Frenchman’s current contracts runs until 2029, but Bayern wants to secure his commitment amid growing interest.

Olise’s current deal is worth around €14m (£12.15m) a year and the Bavarian outfit is willing to increase that. As one of Europe’s most coveted players, he will one of the ones to look out for during 2026 transfer window.
