Report: ‘Anfield chiefs preparing a club-record £80million bid’ for player destined to be the best in his position

Bellingham

“Anfield chiefs are preparing a club-record £80million bid for” Jude Bellingham next summer, according to the Daily Star.

The Englishman’s reputation precedes him and it’s really difficult to believe he’s still only 18 and won’t turn 19 until June next year after the way he performed for Borussia Dortmund last season, earning a call-up to the EUROs with England.

He’s a superstar in the making and the Daily Star reports that Liverpool are ready to smash their club-record bid to sign him from Dortmund although they’re likely to face competition from the likes of Manchester United.

Liverpool’s club-record bid remains the fee they paid to Southampton worth £75m to sign van Dijk in 2018 and breaking that record to sign an 18-year-old is a bold move but all the signs suggest it would be a good move.

Jordan Henderson waxed lyrical about him following the 4-0 win over Andorra and while the skipper has just signed a new contract with the club until 2025, it won’t be long before his role in the side will be to help Jurgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders to prepare his successor for the future.

Declan Rice would be a good option to replace the former Sunderland midfielder but Jude Bellingham is the dream option as he has absolutely everything you could ask for in a midfielder.

Watching the teenager develop over the next three years whether he’s at Anfield or not is going to be very interesting as it’s obvious he’s got a very steep career trajectory ahead of him.

A midfield of Bellingham, Henderson and Fabinho would be one of the strongest in the country and at 6ft1, he’d add even more height to the Reds’ side and make them even stronger at set-pieces.

The sticking point for me is where will the funds come from? Liverpool don’t spend huge sums of money unless they generate the fees from sales as was the case with van Dijk and Alisson when Philippe Coutinho left for Barcelona.

So are FSG going to switch up their transfer policy or are a number of outgoings planned to fund the move?
