Liverpool in pole position to sign stunning player that won three penalties in one Champions League game

Karim Adeyemi

According to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool are in pole position to sign Karim Adeyemi from RB Salzburg.

While Harvey Elliott may have been operating as a midfielder for Liverpool this season, his ability to play as a winger means that his injury is a double blow for Jurgen Klopp and makes the decision not to make any further signings in the signing even more questionable.

The 18-year-old was able to play in midfield and served as cover for Mohamed Salah but now, with Xherdan Shaqiri no longer at the club and Takumi Minamino and Roberto Firmino injured, Divock Origi is the only backup forward available to Klopp.

Elliott

Signing a forward in the winter transfer this January just became that much more important for Liverpool.

Adeyemi is supposedly a target for the Reds and, according to Mundo Deportivo, they are in pole position to sign him after a report from the Daily Express indicated that Liverpool are prepared to make an offer to sign the winger.

Transfermarkt claims a €30million bid is required to sign the 19-year-old which surely isn’t beyond Liverpool’s means given they haven’t splashed the cash in the transfer window for some time now.

They may have renewed several contracts for key players but so have Manchester City and FSG cannot use that as an excuse as keeping their best players should be a given.

MADRID, SPAIN - JUNE 01: John W. Henry, owner of Liverpool applauds fans after the UEFA Champions League Final between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on June 01, 2019 in Madrid, Spain.

Adeyemi is a thrilling player and he gave Sevilla serious problems when they faced RB Salzburg in the Champions League on Tuesday, winning his side three penalties although he did miss the one he was allowed to take.

That aside, he went on to win two more spot-kicks and gave the La Liga side problems for the 80 minutes he was on the pitch. It was an indication for all the detractors saying he’s only good in the Austrian Bundesliga that he can crack it at a higher level.

His missed penalty may have been a blip but given that several top forwards are awful at penalties, it’s not something to read into just yet.
