Liverpool are gearing up for a big summer window.
Arne Slot’s first year with the team has shown a lot of positives, and some weaknesses. The former Feyenoord boss took over the team and transformed them. His possession-based style was ideal for a squad which was talented on the ball, but lacked a cutting edge in attack. Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister benefitted greatly from this new team style.
However, the weaknesses in the Liverpool team were exposed later in the season. Slot and his staff have been able to keep a number of starters fresh and healthy. But over the past few weeks a few unfortunate injuries and knocks have depleted the squad. The problem is that Liverpool’s replacements were not that great, and it showed when the team was knocked out of the FA Cup and the Champions League.
The reds plan to use the summer window to boost the squad.
Quiz: Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
Liverpool plan Brighton double swoop

Multiple reports have suggested that Liverpool will focus on the attack. Fabrizio Romano also hinted recently that the team will buy a new defender. With a high chance that the reds lose all three of Salah, Van Dijk and Trent, there are sure to be some replacements lined up. Ibrahima Konate has also been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks. Arne Slot has also asked for new faces in attack, with how inconsistent Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota have been this season.
It looks like Liverpool have found a solution to both areas. The reds are planning a double swoop of Brighton players this summer. Joao Pedro has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent months. His string of impressive performances this season has put him on the radar of top clubs. The 23-year old has eight goals and six assists in the Premier League this season.
Give Me Sport is also reporting that the reds are very interested in Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke. The report reveals that Liverpool’s recruitment team have been impressed by how well the Dutch defender has played this season. With two years left on his current deal, Brighton may explore the possibility of selling him
Good moves for the reds?
The fees mentioned will obviously be the talking point. Brighton would reportedly want around €100million for Joao Pedro alone. But securing two great young players at a premium is a good move. van Hecke would be a perfect fit for the defence, and Joao Pedro has shown his quality in the last two seasons.
