Liverpool perform £100m U-turn in a shocking transfer twist

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is going through frantic days as the club look to secure deals early in the summer transfer window. However, the Reds seem to have had a rethink on a certain top target who is wanted across clubs in Europe.

Arne Slot wants major surgery on his squad this summer as he wants better options to defend Liverpool’s Premier League title and compete on all fronts next season.

The Liverpool manager is keen to add a few stellar talents to the forward line as well as a new number 10 to increase the creativity and goalscoring capacity of his team.

Liverpool have been looking at several attacking midfielders, but it seems one of their top targets is unlikely to end up at Anfield in the summer window.

Name the team Liverpool signed these players from in the 2010s?

The Reds are not expecting to sign the stellar midfielder

Florian Wirtz’s future has been under the scanner over the last few days, with suggestions that his move to Bayern Munich this summer is more or less a done deal.

However, there were suggestions on Wednesday that Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes held talks with the German midfielder’s camp.

It appeared Liverpool were trying to convince him to move to Anfield, but according to Liverpool.com, no such meeting took place between the club and Wirtz’s camp.

Liverpool have a long-standing interest in the midfielder, but believe that he will either stay at Bayer Leverkusen or move to Bayern Munich this summer.

Bayern Munich have a contractual agreement with the player and will now try to work out a fee with Leverkusen, who want much more than £100m for him.

Manchester City have also been in talks with the German as he is Pep Guardiola’s number one target to replace Kevin De Bruyne in his squad next season.
