Liverpool might be able to work something up following the immense load of interest reaching Marc Guéhi after a summer failure.
Guéhi was a sure Anfield arrival up until the final hours of the summer transfer window. Following medicals in London, the Reds submitted a final offer sheet at Selhurst Park.
Unfortunately for the eager parties, which included Liverpool and Marc Guéhi, the offer was rejected following a feud. The south of London saw Austrian manager Oliver Glasner and chairman Steve Parish in a strife.
Steve had agreed to sell Guéhi, but Glasner was against the idea following a failure to swoop in a replacement. The then Brighton and Hove Albion defender Igor Julio chose West Ham United over the Eagles.
Parish had to stop the deal as Oliver was ready to walk out the door if their captain were moved out of Selhurst Park. Henceforth, Liverpool was left with only three senior defenders in their squad.
Despite huge competition, Arne Slot remains confident about signing the defender, says The Telegraph. Real Madrid are on a roll to find a defender in the summer, with the Englishman being on their radar.

Real Madrid shift focus to Ibrahima Konaté

Fortunately for Liverpool, there seems to be less competition for Marc Guéhi than expected. One of the biggest competitors were definitely Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants seem to have shifted their focus to Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté.
Konaté’s contract expires at the end of the season, so Los Blancos are trying to get the defender for free. Defensa Central reports, the Frenchman is confident in signing for the South European club.
This would make a move for Guéhi by Real Madrid highly unlikely. However, other competitors remain relevant on paper. Despite Liverpool’s higher position following their talks with the player in the summer, the big names are still going to pose a challenge.
Interestingly, though, both the Frenchman and English defender have refused to sign contract extensions, hence their employers will be looking for a sale in the winter.
This is one of the paradoxes that the Merseysiders need to solve. However, there is still the possibility of agreeing on a move for Ibrahima Konaté and then using that money to sign Marc Guéhi in the winter.
