Konrad Laimer quotes suggest Liverpool must play long game to secure his signature in the future but he would be the ideal player to replace Jordan Henderson in the long-run.
I wrote an article this week and I said Federico Valverde is an evolved version of Henderson but Laimer would be a much more realistic option.
The RB Leipzig midfielder is worth around €28M (£25M) but interest from Liverpool could see that creep upwards.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool made a late move to sign Laimer but were told it was impossible to negotiate so late in the window as Leipzig stood their ground to keep the 25-year-old.
The German side, however, has struggled as they have picked up just 6 points from 8 games although that’s not much worse than Liverpool’s 9 points in 6.
Laimer hasn’t scored or assisted yet this season but he is the perfect all-action midfielder for Liverpool.
But his recent comments have shown that Liverpool must play the long game to secure his signature.
He said: “It wasn’t so hot that anything would have happened. A hasty departure is not my thing. If I were to change clubs, I would want to think it through and decide calmly, not overnight.”
