Liverpool are hoping to pip rivals Manchester United to the signing of Ajax winger Antony – who has been strongly linked with a move away this summer.
The Brazilian winger starred for club and country last season and has caught the eye of Europe’s elite.
With six weeks to go until the window closes, clubs will need to move fast to secure players.
The Reds have already secured Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsey but have been repeatably linked with signing another midfielder or forward.
Liverpool have made contact with Ajax over Antony this summer.
The club are holding out for £59m for the Brazilian winger, which the Reds are not expected to pay, even though he features highly on their list of attacking targets. [@footyinsider247] pic.twitter.com/XM9MkUPyoB

The latest reports on the Ajax winger:
Antony, 22, has been a major target for United this summer, given that Erik Ten Hag managed him at Ajax last season.
The club are holding out for £59M, according to Footy Insider, but it is a fee that Liverpool aren’t ready to pay despite him being a key target.
Liverpool have attacking talent in Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino at the club but did see Divock Origi, Sadio Mane and Takumi Minamino depart this summer.
Having already broken the bank once for Nunez this summer, it’s highly unlikely Liverpool will pay £59M for a player to play second fiddle to Salah on the right wing.

An alternative target could be 21 goal attacker from France:
Liverpool have been linked with the signing of Rennes Martin Terrier – according to L’Equipe.
The Rennes forward notched 21 goals and four assists in the league with only Wissam Ben Yedder and Kylian Mbappe outscoring the Frenchman.
He has been highly linked with a move to West Ham and Leeds but Liverpool could utilise their stature to secure a backup attacker.
With Roberto Firmino entering the final year of his contract deal and no extension in the works – it could be a feasible move either this summer or the next.
Leeds are targeting a move for Rennes forward Martin Terrier, according to L’Equipe.
The 25-year-old scored 21 goals in Ligue 1 last season, alongside contributing a further 3 assists.
