Liverpool could sign pre-agreement with ‘next Jude Bellingham’ this January after failed contract talks

Whilst Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for Jude Bellingham this summer they won’t be able to sign the highly coveted talent until next summer.

Closer to home, Aston Villa’s Carney Chukwuemeka is being touted as the ‘next Jude Bellingham’ following captaining England U19s to the European Championships.

A whole host of Premier League clubs had been monitoring his contract situation as he rejected Villa’s most recent contract extension deal.

Boasting great potential, Jurgen Klopp may look to secure a player, who could be a real star in the future, for next to nothing.

A star for the future – but what about now?

There were reports last week that he had been left out of Villa’s pre-season tour amid contract talks stalling and now the confirmation is there that he has rejected a new deal.

According to Mike McGrath, he can seal a pre-contract with another club in January and leave for around £400,000 next summer, which many would explore in his situation.

Clubs are expected to bid before that and but no club has met the teenager’s £20M valuation.

He only has 312 minutes of Premier League action but the majority of those minutes came last season as he looks to step up the levels.

A pre-contract could be agreed in January – could Liverpool sign?

The player has drawn comparisons to Bellingham due to a similar build, midfield style, ball-carrying ability and potential from a young age.

He could be a future star in Liverpool’s midfield and securing him could help with the inevitable decline of senior players in their twilight years.

If no club moves this summer, then Villa will be looking at a potential loss of millions of pounds on the talented player.

Clubs may only move this summer if an interested party puts an offer on the table – otherwise, they’re best placed to wait until January to offer a contract to sign the player for free.

With the end of the window fast approaching, the value of the player will drop as he approaches the time he can sign a pre-contract.

Chukwuemeka was born in Austria but grew up in Northampton and made his senior debut last season for Villa – one of 14 appearances for the first team.
