Liverpool are preparing for the winter transfer window with their eyes firmly on making sure that they make the most of any opportunity to strengthen Arne Slot’s squad in the middle of the season.
The Reds dropped the ball in the summer when they didn’t have a back-up option ready once Martin Zubimendi decided against leaving Real Sociedad and rejected a move to Liverpool.
Liverpool want to bring in midfield reinforcements in the winter window and are ready to move on a few players if needed to make space in their squad and raise funds.
However, the Reds also have some tricky decisions to make on the future of a few players who seem to be struggling this season under Slot.
While the fans are focused on any incoming business, Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes will have to take a call on the future of a few players in the winter window.
The club have made their decision on the future of a forward
Arne Slot recently lamented about the lack of options in his forward line due to injuries and one of the attackers who has been out of action is Federico Chiesa.
The Italian was signed as a low-cost option in the summer who could be a good back-up in the squad but he has played just 78 minutes of football.
He has been out of action since before the last international break and is not expected to return to action until the middle of November.
Slot has not been happy about his fitness levels and Chiesa has been linked with a loan move back to Italy in the January transfer window.
The former Juventus winger wants to fight for a place in the team and according to InterLive.it, he is set to get that opportunity.
Can you name the club Liverpool sold these players to?
Liverpool have decided against loaning out the winger and he will be at Anfield for the rest of the season.
The club hope that Chiesa will get to grips with the fitness and intensity needed to play in England and will show some of his qualities in the latter half of the season.
