“In the last few hours:” Italian report suggests Liverpool are ready to make first summer signing

Liverpool are reportedly ready to make their first concrete move of the summer and in doing so would grant Arne Slot his first signing since taking over from Jurgen Klopp.

Slot has already put in a fair amount of work on the AXA training pitches but many new Premier League managers are initially assessed on the success of their new signings.

With Liverpool yet to make any additions to the squad Klopp left for Slot, it’s difficult to predict how the Reds will perform in the upcoming season set to start in two weeks.

Latest reports from Italy suggest Slot wants to sign Teun Koopmeiners

On Friday, a report from Italian outlet Tutto Juve reveals a bold claim. They claim that information they received “in the last few hours” suggests Liverpool are finally ready to make a new addition to their squad.

The Reds have “knocked on the door for Koopmeiners” and their first offer for the 26-year-old should arrive in the “next few days.”

However, a report Tutto Juve cites from Sportmediaset argues that while Atalanta would prefer to sell to Liverpool instead of strengthening a domestic rival, “Koopmeiners desire” to join Juventus may play a damaging role in Liverpool’s transfer plans.

Koopmeiners wants to leave but will it be to Liverpool or Juventus?

That Koopemeiners wants to leave is indisputable.

“I told Atalanta I want to leave in the summer,” Koopmeiners told De Telegraaf in March.

“Last season, there was concrete interest from Napoli, but the two clubs didn’t reach an agreement. I hope there will be options to consider this year. My girlfriend and I are enjoying Italy, but I would endure rain for some clubs in England!”

Liverpool can offer everything Juventus can and more. Financially, the Reds are stronger but until either side makes an official bid, it’s difficult to make a definitive prediction on his imminent future.

The Dutch star would offer qualities currently lacking in the Reds’ midfield. After he managed 15 goals and seven assistslast season, he’d certainly be a welcome addition to the Liverpool squad.
