Liverpool have made contact with AS Monaco to register their interest in signing Aurelien Tchouameni ahead of Real Madrid.

A deal to sign the highly-rated Frenchman could reach as high as £83million with a report from the Daily Mail from earlier this year that AS Monaco want to receive a huge sum for his services.

The fight for his signature is set to be quite fierce but Liverpool are well-placed to beat the likes of PSG, Real Madrid and Manchester United.

A report from Gianluca Di Marzio states that Monaco’s prized asset prefers a move to the Premier League and this puts Liverpool in pole position in my view.

While Manchester United have been named as one of the sides keen to land him this summer, they are set to miss out on Champions League football.

This ensures Liverpool would not lose out to the Red Devils even if they can guarantee more game time and a higher wage.

The Reds are the most attractive club in England right now with a quadruple on the cards while Jurgen Klopp has just signed a contract extension, re-committing his future to the club until 2026.

According to 90Min’s Graeme Bailey, “Real Madrid and Liverpool have both spoken with Monaco to register their interest in signing Aurelien Tchouameni.”

Chelsea remain keen to agree a deal for the French star after holding talks with him last summer but Bailey reports it will be difficult for them to sign him this year due to their ongoing “ownership issues” and they now face competition from Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Both sides have “made their interest in Tchouameni known to Monaco” but no bids have been made just yet.

Real Madrid don’t want to pay much more than €40m (£33.6m) but Tchouameni is reportedly “intrigued” by the prospect of playing at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Meanwhile, both Manchester clubs are tracking the 22-year-old and Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are “admirers”.

Liverpool have now held talks with Tchouameni’s agents as well as informing Monaco of their intent.

As things stand, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the young midfielder join Liverpool at some point this summer.
