Liverpool make big transfer call on 31-year-old star ahead of January window

Liverpool have made a strong start to the season under new manager Arne Slot despite the issues they faced in the last summer transfer window.

A 2-0 win over Bologna on Wednesday night continued Liverpool’s good start to the season in both the Champions League and the Premier League.

Slot has left the problems of the summer transfer window behind them with Liverpool now leading the Premier League table ahead of visiting Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Ryan Gravenberch’s emergence at the base of Liverpool’s midfield this season has managed to help them get over their failure of not signing a new number 6 in the summer.

However, Slot remains interested in signing the defensive midfielder and according to Football Insider, the club have set cash aside to bring in a new number 6 in the winter window.

But the arrival of a defensive midfielder would have to be partly funded by sales as well.

Liverpool ready to sell Wataru Endo to make way for a new number 6

Endo joined Liverpool last year when Jurgen Klopp also wanted to sign an elite number 6 but the Japanese has failed to carve out a niche for himself at Anfield.

He has been a bit part player this season under Slot and the club have taken a big decision on his future ahead of the January transfer window.

The Merseyside giants are prepared to sell Endo in the January transfer window as part of their plans.

The club are plotting to use the money they could generate from his sale to part-fund the move for a top-class defensive midfielder.

Endo has played a grand total of two minutes in the Premier League and the Champions League this season and his only start came in the Carabao Cup.

Liverpool wanted to sign Martin Zubimendi in the summer but he decided to stay put at Real Sociedad.

A move for him in January is likely to be complicated as he is said to be eyeing a move to Real Madrid in the future.
