Liverpool left stunned by Chelsea’s quick hijack of £50m transfer

Liverpool cannot afford to rest on their laurels as they push to secure early deals for the summer transfer window. However, they have been caught napping as Chelsea press towards signing a player who has been deemed a priority target by the Reds.

Arne Slot wants to revamp his squad in the summer, and the club are prepared to back him with as many as five new signings ahead of the start of next season.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has been holding talks with players’ representatives and intermediaries as he looks to set up deals for the coming months.

However, it seems Liverpool have been caught off guard as Chelsea are now pressing towards getting a deal to sign a top Premier League star this summer.

Can you name the team Liverpool signed these players from?

Chelsea caught the Reds napping in pursuit of a top star

Chelsea are not going to stop their big spending ways, and are again getting ready to open their chequebook again in the upcoming summer transfer.

Dean Huijsen has been on Liverpool’s radar for months, and the club have already held talks with his representatives over a move to Anfield.

However, according to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea have moved far too quickly for Liverpool in pursuit of the Bournemouth centre-back this summer.

Chelsea have made a better financial offer than Liverpool, and have been in constant contact with the player’s camp over a potential switch in the coming months.

The Blues now feel confident that they will get their hands on Huijsen after receiving a positive response from the player’s entourage.

He has a £50m release clause in his contract, but a deal is still not in place, and the defender has yet to make a final decision.

However, Chelsea believe they have done enough to convince him to move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
