Liverpool are set to spend big in the upcoming transfer window to bolster their title-winning squad, but they remain keen to bring in younger talents for relatively smaller fees. However, they could miss out on one such player due to a proactive move from Scottish champions Celtic.
The Merseyside giants are set to splash out more than £100m to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, and the club are also closing in on a deal to sign Milos Kerkez.
Jeremie Frimpong has arrived on Merseyside to complete the move, and by next week, the Reds could splash out as much as £200m for three new faces.
However, the club are still keen to bring in younger players with high potential. But it seems Celtic have stolen a march on the Reds in the race for one such teenage prodigy this summer.

Celtic are pushing to land a top young defender who is wanted at Anfield

Red Star Belgrade defender Veljko Milosavljevic has emerged on the radar of several European clubs following a breakthrough season in Serbia.
The 17-year-old centre-back has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs with his commanding performance, and Liverpool are interested in snapping him up.
They have been monitoring his progress closely, but according to reports cited by The Celtic Way, the Bhoys are the ones who have made the first move to sign him.
The Scottish champions have had a bid rejected by Red Star, but the club are still pushing to secure a deal to sign the centre-back in the upcoming transfer window.
Red Star believe they can get as much as £9m from his sale, but Celtic are unlikely to pay such a figure for a 17-year-old.
However, Celtic believe they can convince the player to push for a move through guarantees of more playing time, which his Premier League suitors are unlikely to offer.
