Liverpool lead Man United in pursuit of midfielder

Liverpool are in the market for midfield reinforcements and Richard Hughes and his recruitment team are working on identifying top targets for the next summer transfer window.

The Merseyside giants sit at the summit of the Premier League table but the club are aware that they dropped the ball in the summer when they failed to sign a midfielder.

Liverpool do not expect to be too busy in the winter transfer window, and Arne Slot is believed to be happy with the depth of his squad for the latter half of the season.

The club want to be more aggressive and proactive in the market and potential midfield targets are being assessed as the club look to settle down on their top targets for the next summer transfer window.

Liverpool have been scouting several players this season and a former Feyenoord player has been heavily watched by the Reds over the last few months.

The Reds lead the race to sign the midfielder

Benfica midfielder Orkun Kokcu has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool due to his prior relationship with Slot.

According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is a big admirer of the player and wants to take him to Old Trafford.

However, it has been claimed that Liverpool have a distinct advantage in the race to sign the former Feyenoord star in the summer.

Slot’s relationship with the player gives Liverpool the edge and he would likely opt for a move to Anfield over Old Trafford if he leaves Benfica at the end of the season.

Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?

Luis Suarez

He has a €150m release clause in his contract but Benfica are expected to sell him for much less than that massive figure.

The Portuguese giants are likely to sell him if they receive offers in the region of €60m to €70m in the summer.

Liverpool have their eyes on him and believe they have an edge over Manchester United in the race to sign the Turkish midfielder.

Kokcu is happy with life at Benfica but it has been claimed that he has ambition of playing in the Premier League and he could get that opportunity next summer.
